Shirley by election
This is your opportunity to pass judgement over the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer and Labour's record, locally and nationally. Thursday 26th February is polling day.
The by election was caused by the sudden resignation of a Liberal Democrat councillor. Reform UK Southampton are pleased to announce our candidate, local resident: Paul Chance.

Paul's story
I have spent over 35 years living in Shirley and working throughout my life in Southampton, primarily in retail management, I am passionate about supporting people and fostering small and medium business growth. I want to work for you and our community to make our ward a better place to live and work. The Labour and Conservative parties have consistently let us down.
Its time for change and time for Reform UK

Reform UK are on your side
Southampton is a City that has been left behind despite sitting in one of the richest regions of the World – the SE of England. It has enormous potential but Labour has held back this potential in order to maintain their voter base. We have to help “unleash” this potential with sustainable economic growth that benefits all. At the end of the day it’s the economy that drives everything.

Shirley needs greater investment. Our high street needs encouragement to grow, prosper and thrive. Improving traffic flow, safety and the sequencing of traffic lights is a popular move to encourage visitors and new businesses to set up. Why cant our high street have a nice tree planting scheme as seen in other areas of the city? The council are quick to spend council taxpayers money in and around the university. Why has Shirley been forgotten?

Reform UK supports residents calls to get to grips with our roads and footpaths. Our footpaths are badly maintained. It does not help that vehicles are illegally parked over them, making access for pedestrians, dog walkers, mobility scooters and families with push chairs etc difficult and dangerous.

The loss of the police station is felt by many, especially shop keepers and businesses who have been subjected to criminal activity. Money laundering. There are too many “front” businesses across the City, businesses which seem to compete amongst themselves yet survive! This needs investigation as it undermines the law and genuine businesses.
Doesn't Shirley and the neighbouring areas of Millbrook, Maybush and Lordswood need their dedicated police station back.

Our city desperately needs a more efficient housing repair and maintenance program. At this time, Southampton has one of the worst housing stock in the country. A review of empty properties should be done with a view to getting families housed, instead of letting the further development of houses of multiple occupation occur, as has been happening.

A lot of people are struggling with the council property heating system, provided at a fix cost, with no ability to have control over the heating bills . Many find it's too expensive and unnecessary amount of charge . Many have no controls of turning it off. They can't even look for deals or manage there usage . This unfair cost is leading to many tenants ending up in court and some even being evicted . It's not the rent that lands them in court but the unfair set cost of heating that is paid to the council within rent. This is unfair and must be reformed.

The council are failing to heed the worries of residents across the city when it comes to the hotel housing migrants in neighbouring Portswood. Ask your councillors why they are not making demands to the govt to empty the hotel. Afterall, the Hasler Detention Centre is only along the Solent coastline.

Many complaints on the door step concern the waste of council taxpayers money by Labour . Not at least the anti motorist measures that are bringing congestion to the city's roads.
A vote for Labour is to waste your money
